From the new Sigh album, 'In Somniphobia'. All rights go to Sigh and Candlelight Records.
In Somniphobia is the ninth studio album released by Japanese extreme metal band Sigh. It was released on 13 March 2012 under the independent record label Candlelight Records. All music and lyrics by Mirai Kawashima except where noted. Dr. Mikannibal – alto saxophone, vocals. Satoshi Fujinami – bass.
Another noteworthy aspect of the album is the wonderful work by saxophonist Dr. Mikannibal. The saxophone really dominates the album (further contributing to that "horror" sound, by the way) in a way one wouldn't expect out of any metal band, but I couldn't imagine the album without it. It's smooth and sexy as hell. It is put to its best use in the song "Amnesia," yet another highlight of the album. The saxophone work combines with the piano in a way reminiscent of old nightclub music, and the entire song has a heavy jazz feel.
In Somniphobia is a very distinctive album. Herein, Sigh manages to create an unique atmosphere, eerie and nightmarish. In my opinion, there are a couple of tracks which are truly astounding. Nevertheless, the middle of the album, the real avant-garde section, is too experimental for my taste. I do not deny its creativity, but it is not my cup of tea. Highly recommendable material, nonetheless.

The cover art is by Eliran Kantor. I don’t listen to a lot of black metal. Thankfully, In Somniphobia does not suffer from the same problem. The mix isn’t perfect, sure, but it’s still a major improvement, and the album is that much the better for it. In Somniphobia is, stylistically, a mix of the previous three albums, but it draws the closest comparison to Gallows Gallery. The orchestral elements are there in places, but they’ve been scaled back a great deal in favor of more horns and Hammond-esque keyboards, lending the album a very jazzy feel that is augmented by the songwriting
The Transfiguration Fear. Opening Theme: Lucid Nightmare. L'excommunication À Minuit. Far Beneath The In-Between. Amongst The Phantoms Of Abandoned Tumbrils. Ending Theme: Continuum. Equale I) Prelude II) Fugato III) Coda.
