Deep Purple, also referred to as Deep Purple III, is the third studio album by the English rock band Deep Purple, released in June 1969 on Tetragrammaton Records in the United States and only in September 1969 on Harvest Records in the United Kingdom. Its release was preceded by the single "Emmaretta" and by a long tour in the UK, whose dates were interspersed between the album's recording sessions.

Shades of Purple is the debut studio album by Norwegian pop duo M2M. It was released in the US on 7 March 2000 by Atlantic Records. It reached No. 7 in Norway, No. 89 on the US Billboard 200 and No. 1 on US Top Heatseekers chart. The single "Don't Say You Love Me", which had already been released as the lead single of the Pokémon: The First Movie soundtrack in October 1999, appears on the album. A further two singles, "Mirror Mirror" and "Everything You Do" were released throughout 2000.

The Purple Album is the twelfth studio album by British hard rock band Whitesnake. It contains remakes of songs from Deep Purple band lineups Mark III and Mark IV, when Whitesnake lead singer David Coverdale was a member of that band. The album debuted at number 87 on the Billboard 200 with first week sales of around 6,900 units in its first week of release.

Deep Purple in Rock is, to my mind, a more worthwhile album than Machine Head. I mean, Machine Head is great don't get me wrong, but In Rock just has better material. I absolutely love every song on there, and Speed King, Child In Time, Flight of the Rat, and others are some of the best Deep purple songs out there. In Rock also has an incredibly raw sound that an album like Machine Head doesn't capture, and In Rock is certainly one of the most important pieces in heavy metal history. Also, the songs on In Rock are not overplayed like Smoke on the Water and Highway Star.
