The debut album from Cut Chemist, formerly of pioneering underground hip-hop group Jurassic 5, The Audience’s Listening is evocative of an era when sound enthusiasts put out records for the adventure of it, not as a vehicle tied to hit singles and booty-shaking videos. Using a turntable, mixer and computer to create the songs, this gifted DJ has conjured an homage to what is possible.

Complete your Cut Chemist collection. A fantastic album! Great/loud inherent volume and an overall ok pressing.

The Audience's Listening. Cut Chemist's first non-mix full-length CD has been long awaited by the legions of turntable nuts and hip-hop fans who think he's DJ Shadow's heir apparent, and while it's not the mind-blower that Brainfreeze or Live at Future Primitive Sound Session are, it is a well-crafted, highly enjoyable effort that overcomes the "all samples. cleared" challenge all big-label turntablist albums must face.

Entertainment Weekly. 75. Cut Chemist makes frisky, gleeful funk that touches on Brazilian samba, surf rock, and even polka, without losing the beat. The Audience's Listening is kinda like a Fatboy Slim B-sides collection circa 1998 without the catchy bits.

Hence The Audience's Listening is as accomplished and approachable a CD as Cut Chemist (Lucas McFadden, to his mom) could have hoped to make. My 1st Big Break" owes a fat bit of debt to Fatboy Slim, with its big, booming snares, its skip-to-my-lou melody, pleasing stops-and-starts, and its danceable shuffle.

"The Audience's Following" is a 10 year anniversary fan club edition version of "The Audience's Listening."
I like to call this the bizzaro version follow up to 'Audience' as it features songs that never made the cut and demo versions of songs that did. There are also b-sides from vinyl singles plus a special mix of the original song sampled for "What's The Altitude" by Curtis Knight.
Have fun listening to the album that was almost released 10 years ago.
Happy 7/11 everyone! Slurp slurp!
