Nefertiti is a studio album by American jazz musician Miles Davis, released in March 1968. Recorded on June 7, June 22–23 and July 19, 1967, at Columbia's 30th Street Studio, the album was Davis' last fully acoustic album. Davis himself did not contribute any compositions, which were mostly written by Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter.

Nefertiti, the fourth album by Miles Davis' second classic quintet, continues the forward motion of Sorcerer, as the group settles into a low-key, exploratory groove, offering music with recognizable themes - but themes that were deliberately dissonant, slightly unsettling even as they burrowed their way into the consciousness. Perhaps Nefertiti's charms are a little more subtle than those of its predecessors, but that makes it intriguing. Besides, this album so clearly points the way to fusion, while remaining acoustic, that it may force listeners on either side of the fence into another direction.

The fourth studio album by the second great Miles Davis quintet, and the second comprising material recorded in the pivotal year of 1967, NEFERTITI marked yet another metamorphosis in the career of a great musician noted for welcoming change. While Davis (1926-1991) did not make wholesale, far- reaching alterations on NEFERTITI, as he had on KIND OF BLUE and . P and would on BITCHES BREW, one could say that the pace-setting modified his approach to the freebop that had for two-and-and-half years been his group's bread and butter, at least for recording. The song Nefertiti was recorded by many great artists, but the drumming of Tony Williams on the Miles Davis recording is by far one the best recordings in the history of jazz. The recording was styled to showcase Tony Williams, but Miles and everyone else simply blows my mind.

The fourth album by Miles Davis's Second Great Quintet, Nefertiti, is best known for the unusual title track, on which the horn section repeats the melody numerous times without individual solos while the rhythm section improvises underneath, reversing the traditional role of a rhythm section Shortly after this album, Hancock recorded a different version of "Riot" for his 1968 album Speak Like a Child.

The fourth album by Miles Davis' second classic quintet, Nefertiti is best known for the unusual title track, on which the horn section repeats the melody numerous times without individual solos while the rhythm section improvises underneath, reversing the traditional role of a rhythm section. Also featured are the lilting ballad "Fall", Williams's "Hand Jive", a more boppish composition, and the. other pieces showcase the group's unique post-bop approach. Both "Nefertiti" and "Riot" entered the Davis quintet's live set. Featuring.

What can we say? This is the ultimate Miles Davis album – the one that includes so many songs that we've heard way too much in Starbucks, in retail stores, or at a friend's house who claims to be a "jazz expert", but is really a yuppie dilettante. Yet somehow, over all the years,. LP, Vinyl record album.

Not the best Miles out there, but some of the better stuff he's done easily. Nefertiti’s biggest strength lies in the strength of the songwriters. Three of the band mates, all of them mentioned earlier, contribute to all of the songs, with Wayne Shorter bringing in the most of what’s happening (three of six tracks). In fact, Wayne writes what might be the most mesmerizing and two strongest songs on the record, the title track and Fall. The title track rives it’s absolutely monolithic structure, with Miles mesmerizing trumpet playing, Carter’s plucking, walking double bass, coupled with the sweetly accented piano undertones and violently dynamic drums, and we get one.
