Echo & The Bunnymen - Songs To Learn & Sing album download

Their next album, the self-titled Echo & the Bunnymen (1987), was initially recorded with ex–ABC drummer David Palmer, but when de Freitas returned in 1986, it was largely re-recorded. Eventually released in mid-1987, the record sold well (UK No. 4), and was a small American hit, their only LP to have significant sales there. In the United States, the band's best-known songs were "The Killing Moon" and "Lips Like Sugar". Bring on the Dancing Horses" is well known as one of the songs on the soundtrack to the John Hughes film Pretty in Pink. On 11 September 2006, Echo & the Bunnymen released an updated version of their 1985 Songs to Learn and Sing compilation. Now re-titled More Songs to Learn and Sing, this new compilation was issued in two versions, a 17-track single CD and a 20-track version with a DVD featuring eight videos from their career.

Contains printed inner sleeve with song lyrics. This album features previously released material except B5, a new song, and A2, never before released in America. Marketed by Warner Bros. Records In. a Warner Communications Company. 1983, 1984, 1985 WEA Records Ltd. Made in . Tracks A1, A2, A5, A6, B2 recorded in England. Tracks A3, A4 recorded in Wales.

Like the Cure’s Standing On A Beach, Songs To Learn and Sing is the essence of Echo and The Bunnymen. There are many out there who will say that Echo and The Bunnymen are more then a singles band. I would point out that as of this release in 1985, the group had but four albums, three EPs, no less then fourteen singles, and some of those singles where double sided hits. which pretty much makes them a singles band. So why not reach for an album that will bring a smile to your face with every single tune? Exactly. Songs To Learn And Sing is more then a compilation, at this time in the band’s career, this album is the alpha and omega of Echo material.

Having preceded the self-titled album, Reverberation, and the late-'90s re-formation that has so far led to four further studio albums and two widely released live sets, Songs to Learn and Sing went over 20 years as the lone introduction to Echo & the Bunnymen. The group has more than doubled its output since the compilation was released, so either a revision or a sequel has been a long time coming. With the exception of "The Puppet," it contains each of the selections from Songs to Learn and Sing, and it adds ten songs: two from Echo & the Bunnymen, three from Evergreen, one each from What Are You Going to Do with Your Life?, Flowers, and Siberia, in addition to covers of the Doors' "People Are Strange" (from the Lost Boys soundtrack) and Tim. Hardin's "Hang on to a Dream" (for the completists).

Songs to Learn & Sing is a compilation album by Echo & the Bunnymen which was released on 11 November 1985 and featured all of the singles the band had released up to that point. The album was reissued on 17 October 1990 by WEA.

Like the Beatles, Echo and the Bunnymen were four Liverpoolians with a non-sensical name. Echo, again like the Beatles helped define their genres. And while the Beatles had 60s pop rock, the bunnymen had the Joy Division established genres of Goth and alternative.

Heaven Up Here, the Bunnymen’s second album, is an eerie, groovy, at times harrowing set that proved we were going into uncharted territory, where no band of the time could even contemplate going, McCulloch boasted years later (and there’s a lot more where that came from). The leap in sophistication was undeniable, and if they had disbanded after this one - or, frankly, if McCulloch had died, as Ian Curtis had a year earlier - who knows how much higher its critical reputation might stand today. Bring On The Dancing Horses (from the Songs To Learn & Sing compilation, 1985). A curious motif runs through the Bunnymen that must spring from some deeper well of experience than rock ‘n’ roll: their affinity with the natural world, and especially animals. It’s there in the elemental staging of the first four album covers (forest, beach, glacier, primeval watery cave). Post-punk Echo And The Bunnymen.
