Vampire Weekend - Modern Vampires Of The City album download

Vampire Weekend's latest album is a worth sequel to 2010's Contra, presenting songs that truly stand on the merits of their memorable writing and lush instrumentation.

Indie rock darlings Vampire Weekend return as an older, more mature band on their superb third studio album, ‘Modern Vampires of the City.

Album · 2013 · 12 Songs. There are deftly wielded forces of darkness and light at work on Vampire Weekend’s third record. Elegiac, alive with ideas and co-produced by Ariel Rechtshaid, Modern Vampires of the City moves beyond the grabby, backpacking indie of its predecessors. In fact, whether through the hiccuping, distorted storm of Diane Young or Unbelievers -a sprinting guitar-pop jewel about the notion of afterlife-this is nothing less than the sound of a band making a huge but sure-footed creative leap.

Modern Vampires of the City is the third studio album by American indie rock band Vampire Weekend. It was released on May 14, 2013, by XL Recordings. Vampire Weekend began to write songs for the album during soundchecks on the supporting concert tour for their 2010 album Contra. After a period in which each member explored individual musical projects, they regrouped and continued working on Modern Vampires of the City in 2011.

Released May 14, 2013. Modern Vampires of the City Tracklist. 1. Obvious Bicycle Lyrics. And at first there was something that seemed kind of funny about calling a Vampire Weekend album Modern Vampires Of The City, but then I do feel like there’s some deeper resonance there too. Modern Vampires of the City debuted at on the Billboard 200 for the week of June 1st, 2013. It sold 137,000 copies during its first week to land them that position on the chart. The record was later certified gold by the RIAA on November 6th, 2014. Modern Vampires of the City Q&A.

Vampire Weekend's third album is a remarkable progression from a band that was already functioning at a high level. The songs are more spontaneous and dynamic and, along with the more lived-in sonics, Modern Vampires finds the group taking a leap forward into emotional directness. What's most impressive is the way he's able to connect art and ideas from different eras and continents into a kind of ecstatic worldview. One particularly inspired ramble spins an analytic web from a friend's visit to Morocco, the history of the Strait of Gibraltar, a 1984 interview between Bob Dylan and Bono, the film The Secret of Roan Inish, and National Geographic's famed Afghan refugee cover- and not only does it make sense, it's written in a way that's funny. and smart and completely inclusive.

Modern Vampires is the perfect album for the coming Atlantic summer. On their third full-length, Modern Vampires Of The City, Vampire Weekend feel like a band in transition, dealing with their own mortality, and looking to trade in their sun-bleached, pigeonholed world-pop for something with teeth.

Modern Vampires quite often touches brilliance, and does so without audibly straining for 'maturity' or pushing hard to be some po-faced Great American Album. 80. Like art, Vampires is dense; like pop, it seems to float in effortlessly from some place you're sure you've been, but by some trick of déjà vu eludes your conscious brain. The coming months will see new albums from Daft Punk, Vampire Weekend, Boards of Canada, The National, Queens of the Stone Age, and (maybe) Kanye West.
